Lake Casitas Kids Day
| On March 19th, 2005,
Lake
Casitas
held the annual “Kids Fishing Day” also referred as "Fish 4
Kids". Despite the rain,
over 800 people showed up to fish the make shift ponds stocked with over
900 lbs of trout constructed on the main boat ramp. The kids received one
day mini-fishing tags, fishing rods and reels, and an instant photo of
their catch. They also
competed in contests, such as the Casting Contest winning tackle boxes,
rods and reels as prizes. The
event was sponsored by Eric's Tackle, Vons, Berkley, California Department
of Fish and Game and the
Ventura
County
Bass Club. Special thanks to Lake
Casitas Ranger Suzi Lydic for coordinating the event.
Thanks to VC
Bass club members Tom Hutchinson and Family, Howard Trench, and Bob
Wingate in brightening the smiles of all the kids from a dampened raining
day. Let’s not forgot about
the lake, at the end of the day Bob Wingate and the Dept. of Fish and Game
released all the fish into the lake for that next fishing adventure.
